Healthy Snacks for On-The-Go Photographers and Surfers
I’m very much a list person. I have so many checklists that my lists overflow the calendar and that’s the way I prefer it. I’m working on dreams and any dreamer knows that getting there can be a bit of a mess and a constant state of busy. The best days are those jam-packed with adventure — a dawn surf and photo session, fitness training, mid-morning photo editing, and all the small business daily tasks involved with wearing all sorts of hats well into the night. Long story short — When it comes to food words like: simple, quick, wholesome, healthy, minimally processed, plant-based, filling, nutritious, and macro balanced are all a part of my vocabulary.
I’m going to give you two lists:
List #1: the ready to go, eat on the go snacks
List #2: the i’ve got a call in 15 minutes and need to make something good in less than 10
I hope this helps you for the next time you need a snack on the go.
List # 1.
Naturally packaged fruit (banana, kiwi, orange, etc).
Granola (I like to look for the ones with minimal additives and sugars; you could pre-make your own as well)
GoMacro Bars (I’ve never tasted a flavor that I didn’t obsess over; I like that these are balanced according to a macrobiotic diet) *this means that they are filling and have an ideal ratio of carbs v. fat v. protein found to be ideal. Kind of like a Buddha bowl but in a health bar that tastes like more.
Publix Hazelnut and Chocolate Date Bars (literally so good if you have a sweet tooth; only 6 ingredients)
List # 2.
Sprouted Grain Avo Toast
Protein Smoothie
Overnight Oats (set in fridge or cooler night before)
Cooked oatmeal
This list isn’t huge or by any means exclusive or anything like that. I’ve compiled a few things that I like to keep around for when the need for quick nutrition arrises. Disclaimer: I’m not a dietician, I’m just an active surf and lifestyle photographer who thinks that nutrition can make a difference in how I feel and hope it does the same for others.
