What Actually Goes into a Photo Session?

At first glance, photo services seem simple. Within the specified timeframe, you and the photographer produce imagery. What often gets forgotten are the details leading up to and following the photoshoot. You see, a two hour photoshoot actually breaks down to: 1-4+ hours planning, 1 hour prepping photo gear, 2 hours shooting, 4-10+ hours post processing otherwise known as editing and uploading photos to a gallery for final high resolution image delivery.

Planning

Planning includes a 20-30 minute consultation and a series of messages, emails, phone calls, or a Zoom to determine desired imagery.

After our initial contact, I begin planning mood boards and tailor planned content to your desired aesthetic. We determine: # of final images, types of images, image usage, photoshoot location, timeframe, image licensing, prints, etc. Based on this determined information that best suits your needs, I can provide accurate pricing. To confirm and book photography, we’ll need a 50% deposit and signed contract.

Photoshoot Day

It’s finally here! We’ve determined all the details to create captivating images together. Now it’s time to create those images!

I recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to the shoot location so that we can get started on time. By this time, we’ve got details of hair, makeup, outfit(s), location(s), timeframe, model(s), and aesthetics determined. As we create, I’ll confirm that the imagery is aligned with our prior planning. If present, you’ll be able to see the process and tailor adjustments in real time. If remote, I’m happy to discuss options for real time updates.

Photoshoot day is also the day to pay the other 50% so that we can move forward in preparing final imagery.

After The Photoshoot

Typical turnaround time is 7-14 days. After our shoot, I’ll typically send a sneak peak or two your way as I begin the process or reviewing imagery. I narrow images to include what best aligns with your goals and expectations. Final imagery is delivered via an online gallery link for digital download. This can be send directly to you as a link or to your email. Print turn around time typically takes 2-4 weeks. If for any reason timeframe changes, you will be informed.
